Charged UP Student Solar Charging Station Reveal and Celebration- 10/20 @12pm

Get ChargedUp and join the Office of Sustainability for a landmark event celebrating GW's positive impact on the planet! Be the first to plug into a student designed solar charging station on Kogan Plaza and to receive a green campus map showing how GW has made great strides towards urban sustainability, including sourcing 50% of our electricity from solar energy.

City of Trees Film Screening - 10/16, 6pm

Join the Office of Sustainability and the Honey W. Nashman Center on Monday, October 16 for a film screening of "City of Trees" about the fight for equal access to good jobs and safe parks in our nation's capital. The film will begin at 6pm in the Marvin Center Ampitheater, followed by a panel discussion beginning at 7:45. No registration necessary.

Grab a tasty apple or two, snap a photo with friends as George and Martha Washington, play a round of cornhole, jam to the sounds of a local bluegrass band, and learn more about sustainable living and composting.

Harvest Celebration and Food Desert Awareness at THEARC

Join the 11th St Bridge Park and Ward 8 based nonprofit Building Bridges Across the River to celebrate the harvest from the Bridge Park Plots and THEARC Farm. Dine with your family and neighbors at the king's table. Experience tastings from our gardens that will compliment any meal that you bring yourself. Learn about DC's urban gardens that are producing fresh produce in areas of the city that have food deserts. Stay for performances curated by The Washington Performing Arts' Mars Urban Initiative and activities that will get you in the fall spirit!

Climathon- 10/27 @3pm

A 24-hour hackathon that engages young innovators to develop creative local and regional solutions is the key to making progress on climate change and sustainable development. DC Climathon at GW is a timely initiative that cultivates top talent to develop the innovation pipeline for these issues. The George Washington University (GW) and the District of Columbia partner with key stakeholders across the public and private sectors for the DC Climathon at GW, hosted at the GW School of Business. DC Climathon augments traditional educational offerings to develop leaders and create positive change within the local community, start-ups, and the public and and the private sector.
The George Washington University, in conjunction with the Government of the District of Columbia, will host the third annual DC Climathon on October 27-28, 2017. At the culmination of the overnight event, participants will present innovative projects that responded to this year’s challenge theme. A judging panel will select a winner to advance to the final round of the competition. Teams will be eligible for a cash prize to implement their idea, which we will announce the prize on Oct 5 at the launch

Association of Energy Engineers Career Fair and Energy Sector Seminar

The Association of Energy Engineers- National Capital Chapter is hosting its Fifth Annual Engineering Job Fair and Career Seminar. This is an outstanding opportunity for both seasoned engineers and engineering students to meet prospective employers who will host booths at the event. In addition, a Seminar: Pursuing Careers in the Energy Sector featuring career development professionals will provide attendees with valuable career advice.
