Sustainable GW is seeking a Research Assistant for a project on addressing preparations and responses to hazards including increased wildfires, hurricanes, earthquakes, among others. This position is part time and paid $26,000 over the course of the academic year.
Applicants should be graduate students registered at GW with an interest in disaster preparedness and response and strong writing and research skills. Since the position will look at the issue from a variety of disciplinary approaches, there is no requirement for specific knowledge in advance on this topic.
The job will run during the 2019-2020 academic year (approximately September 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020). The position is half time (20 hours/week) with a salary of $26,000 over the course of the academic year.
Help project PIs to organize a series of biweekly lunches to bring together GW faculty and outside guests
Assist PIs in identifying and preparing grant proposals for external funding from government funders and private foundations
Assist the PIs and other contributors in preparing articles on hazards for publication in high-quality peer reviewed journals.
Assist the PIs in attracting media attention for this project and the related outputs.
