The Sustainable Investment Fund was created by Student Association leadership in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability and University administration in the spring of 2018. The Fund allocates $2 million from the university endowment toward responsible investment vehicles, aiming to identify and invest in strategies that generate and sustain long-term environmental, social, governance (ESG) value as well as economic value. As a fossil free fund, SIF also avoids investments in the top coal, oil and gas companies. The SIF also centers education in its mission, serving as an entry-point for students to engage with the meaning of socially responsible investment globally and in the context of GW.
