Healthy Sexuality Conference

The Office of Advocacy and Support (OAS) is excited to announce their first-ever Healthy Sexuality Conference at the University Student Center (800 21st St NW) on Wednesday, April 17 from 10am to 6pm. The goal is to build connection and community among GW students, faculty, and community members through a day of programming dedicated to violence prevention and healthy relationship education. From a Denim Day Fashion Show to Healthy Sexuality Trivia, navigate the intricacy of relationships and sexuality with other peers and professionals while learning from more than fifteen experts leading panels and workshops. And, don’t forget to join for a Keynote Address by Apryl Williams, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication & Media and the Digital Studies Institute at the University of Michigan, and author of “Not My Type: Automating Sexual Racism in Online Dating.”

This year’s Healthy Sexuality Conference keynote address will be provided by Apryl Williams, author of “Not My Type: Automating Sexual Racism in Online Dating.” Apryl is a jointly appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication & Media and the Digital Studies Institute at the University of Michigan. She is also a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, a Senior Fellow in Trustworthy AI at Mozilla, as well as an affiliated researcher at NYU's Center for Critical Race & Digital Studies. As a multidisciplinary scholar, Apryl studies experiences of gender and race at the intersection of digital spaces and algorithmic technocultures.
